I've been participating in races as part of my addiction to running for over three years now. I've run 5Ks, 5 milers, 7 milers, 10 milers, half marathons and marathons that total dozens of races, but never have I run a 10K (6.2 mile) race. For some reason there aren't many around my area and when there are they're usually at some goofy time or place.
That all changes for me on September 26, when I participate in the Race for our Kids 10K. The post-race party is in the parking lot of Sinai Hospital, where both my daughter and I were born, although a few years apart. It should be held in pretty happy territory, if nothing else.
So with the last under-26.2 mile distance race behind me, what will be left? Ultramarathons? I break out in hives just thinking about that.
